This past April, local restaurant, Zapien’s Salsa Grill, celebrated its 30th anniversary in the City of Pico Rivera. Salsa Grill started with Jess Zapien always wanting to run a restaurant. When the opportunity arose and a space was available along Rosemead Boulevard, the family came together, pulled all there available resources together, and Salsa Grill opened its doors in 1994.
At the beginning of the business venture, all the family members which included Marco Zapien, his parents, and two brothers, were all involved in the day-to-day business. Although, each of the siblings had their own separate career paths, Marco was the one who was more interested in the Culinary Arts and made Zapien’s Salsa Grill what it is today.
