In a special luncheon held this past March hosted by Senator Bob Archuleta, 17 local honorees were recognized as the 2023 Women of Achievement Awards for Senate District 30. Among the recipients was a longtime resident of Pico Rivera and member of the Pio Pico Woman’s Club, Petra Jimenez, who was nominated by Rose Archuleta.
The Club, celebrating 110 years of service in Pico Rivera, provides countless volunteer hours, coordinates events and organizes fundraisers to benefit the college bound graduating high school students of the Pico Rivera community. Petra is a former president and treasurer, valued by the membership as a kind, patient person dedicated to the club and the community. As such, she has been selected as the 2018 Club Woman of the Year, and the 2017 Kindness Angel, going above and beyond, with an attention to detail. With grace and patience, she was instrumental in keeping the Club going during the pandemic with her effective leadership and decision-making. Congratulations, Petra!
