A resident has proven that age is nothing more than a number. Richard Elisaldez is a true testament to that statement.
Richard has been a long-time resident of the City. He played youth basketball in the City, then played Varsity basketball at Cantwell High School, and was on the men’s basketball team at Concordia University in Irvine. Basketball has been Richard’s passion for a long time and he continues to play on a much bigger stage, for seniors.
For the past three years, Richard has participated in the Senior Games circuit, a series of Olympic-style competitions for athletes 50 years and older.
Regional Games are held throughout California, and there are also State and National Games, with the major one being The Huntsman World Senior Games held in St. George, Utah, every October.
Since Richard has been competing, he has become a three-time California State Champion, three-time Nevada State Champion, as well as Tucson, Arizona Champion, Mesquite, Nevada Champion, and the three-time World Champion 2022, 2023, 2024 in the Basketball Shooting Competitions, which include Free Throw Shooting, 3 Point Shooting, and the Hot Shots Competition.
